TABUK CITY, Kalinga, Aug 1 (PIA) - - The provincial
government is constructing seven day-care centers and rehabilitating three
others in 10 barangays in the province to provide better venues in preparing
children for formal schooling.
Flordeliza Moldero of the Provincial Planning and
Development Office said the 10 projects with total allocation of P1.2 million,
are identified in the 2012 annual investment plan of the province, a list of
priority and validated projects funded under the 20% economic development fund.
These day-care centers are located in barangays Allaguia,
Dugpa, and Limos in Pinukpuk; San Pascual and San Pedro in Rizal;
Belong-Manubal and Lower Bangad in Tinglayan; Dupligan in Tanudan; and Nambaran
and Ipil in this city.
Under the supervision of social welfare and development, the
day-care centers will house school beginners in preparation for entry to the
new K+12 basic education system, Moldero said.
The day-care centers will not only prepare starters for
formal schooling and supplemental feeding but also serve as centers for health-
related interventions like physical check-up and deworming, she added.
